Caroline Summerfield studied advances in scriptwriting at RADA and was awarded a Masters in Research in Playwriting Studies by the University of Birmingham. She is currently researching the novelist’s art of writing the biographical novel at the Manchester School of Writing as a PhD research candidate: https://pahconline.co.uk/caroline-summerfield/

Caroline is a playwright for both the stage and radio, and a novelist. Her many plays include her West End debut play, ‘Chasing Ibsen’ Jermyn Street Theatre London. Her other plays include ‘The Manuscript’ Finborough Theatre London, ‘Jane Austen and The Cheltonians’ Churchill Theatre London, and ‘A Berlin Christmas’ Upstairs Theatre London.

Her stage play, ‘Prophecy’ was long listed for the Bruntwood and made her a finalist for the Terence Rattigan Playwrights Award. Other awards and nominations, include, ‘Jane Austen and The Cheltonians’ which was nominated for the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain 29th Best Stage Drama Award

Her radio play, ‘Myself And Other Parts’ has been nominated for the Peter Tinniswood Best Original Radio Drama Award 2022.

Caroline has received Arts Council Awards for her work in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Caroline is the artistic director of the Natura Contemporary Theatre Company which she founded in 2017.
